Why is the rated load upper limit of flat lifting belts lower than that of flexible lifting belts

When it comes to engineering lifting belts, the vast majority are flexible lifting belts. Generally, large tonnage lifting belts are flexible lifting belts, which can reach a maximum of about 200 tons. Although flat lifting belts are more reliable within the same specifications, unfortunately, the limit of flat lifting belts is only 50 tons. So what is the reason for this?

The difference in upper limit between flexible lifting belts and flat lifting belts is mainly determined by their different structures. If flat lifting belts want to carry greater weight, they need to double their width. When the width of flat lifting belts is too large, connecting and fixing them becomes a problem.

The reason why flexible lifting belts can achieve a load capacity of 200 tons is because they require an increase in diameter during production. The cross-section of flexible lifting belts is circular, also known as circular lifting belts, and the diameter growth rate is much smaller than the width growth rate of flat lifting belts. Therefore, the space occupancy rate of the produced flexible lifting belts is not very high, which is sufficient for normal lifting operations.

This is the main reason why the rated load upper limit of flat lifting belts is lower than that of flexible lifting belts.
